This covers everything that carries water away from the house: slow and blocked sinks, tubs and toilets, main line backups, cast iron waste that has scaled down to a fraction of its bore, laundry standpipes, floor drains, sump pumps and pits, battery backup pumps, check valves and discharge lines, and sewage ejector pumps in below grade bathrooms.

Drain calls and pump calls arrive on the same days here, which is any week the remnants of a storm sit over North Jersey. A sump that ran fine for years fails the one night it is needed, a discharge line that was never pitched properly freezes or backfeeds, and a main line that has been slow since spring finally backs up into the lowest fixture in the house.

A clog that returns is not a clog problem. Roots at a clay tile joint, a belly in the line, or scale in old cast iron all produce a drain that clears and blocks again on a schedule. We would rather tell you what the line is actually doing than sell you the same snaking twice a year, and if the answer is that a section has to be replaced, you will hear it.

Sump work follows the same rule: the pump is the cheap part, and the pit, the check valve and where the discharge ends up are what decide whether the basement stays dry. Licensed and insured, priced before we start.
